Frequently asked questions
Can solar really save me money?
The short answer in most instances is yes. Every house is different, every customer is different, but if you are installing the average system you will see a positive return.
A major caveat to this answer is the Federal Tax Credit which reimburses you 26% on the PV system and the cost of install if set before 2021. Once this credit drops, the ROI is also impacted.
Further, if your electric bill is already under $50/month, we typically do not advise an install for monetary reasons - some still choose solar solely for environmental reasons, which we give a big thumbs up to!
How long does it take for the solar system to be installed?
That varies by company, but at ProGreen Solar, we plan our crews schedule based on the size of the install. For the average system, a roof and ground team will be set and we will have you set in as little as a day.
For very large residential installations, it can take 1-3 days.
Commercial installations are based on the size, but we can provide an exact window for specific projects.
How can you quote so much less than the other companies? What's the catch?
No catch.... No, really. The Solar market has been a high-margin market for a long time - partly because it's an ever-evolving technology, but more because installers have to be specialized licensed professionals. Combine this with the triple digit growth demand, it has allowed other companies to get away with astronomical labor rates for years.
We are taking a different approach - the more affordable the install, the more systems that go up. That benefits us as a company, our customers in our community, and our overall planet. It just makes sense.
Do you have any type of warranty?
Absolutely. Not only do we offer the industry standard warranties that are backed by the manufacturer, but unlike many competitors, we also offer a Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee.
If you ever have an issue that was caused by our installers, we come out and fix it right away, with no hassle and at no cost. We haven't had an issue yet, but the warranty is always there for your peace of mind.
In what ways are you contributing to the community?
Well, we start by helping make our communities greener. Every house that puts our system on their roof is saving tons (literally) of pollution that is caused by burning fossil fuels such as coal to power our homes.
Beyond that, we are also going to contribute a portion of profits to local schools and parks. The schools educate our bright students to a brighter future, while parks have a way of reminding us just how amazing our planet really is.
We also bring a little economic stimulus by providing jobs and generating tax money in our community, but that's more of a side effect of our journey in helping build a better world for future generations.
Do I have to pay cash for solar?
You can get a series of low-cost financing options. The key is to shop around, and know what option is best for your situation.
A ProGreen Energy Assistant can walk you through the various options and help you find the best solution, whether its a PowerSaver 203K Loan, an Energy Efficient Mortgage (EEM), or even roll it into a FHA loan. We are also partnered with Sunlight Financial, a leading solar financing option that offers rates as low as 2.99%, with the average being a 20-yr fixed at only 3.99%.
Not only can those rates get you below your current utility payments, but when you factor the average home with solar sells 17% faster and at a 4.1% increase in value; solar can be seen as more of an investment than an expense!
